Class Cutting Procedures

The progressive steps for Class Cutters are as follows:

  • Reach out to the parent and tell the parent that we need to speak with them.  Hold a conference with the parent (I will send you the letter you should use when holding the conference).  The parent must sign the form.
  • If the student cuts a 2nd time, hold a parent conference again and tell the parent that the child will have to go to detention.  The parent must sign the form.
  • If a student cuts a 3rd time, hold a parent conference again and assign the student to one day of ISS.  Parent must sign the form.
  • If a student cuts a 4th time, hold a parent conference and issue the student a one day suspension.  Parent must sign the form.
  • If a student cuts a 5th time, report the child to truancy (work with Mrs. Hampton to do this).  Student will receive 3 days of suspension and parent must sign the form.
  • Any number over 6 cuts, the child needs to be referred to the administrative team for more stringent consequences.
  • Student can avoid any level of consequence if the parent spends the entire day with the student.  After the parent attends school with the student, the student starts over on the consequence chart.

*All class cutter data will be pulled from the Discipline Referral Portal
