PROGRESSIVE STEPS OF DISCIPLINE 

As a reminder, the discipline plan we agreed on is below.  It is crucial that we follow these steps meticulously as it is the leverage we will use to refer students to alternative settings for consistent foolishness.  Keep your records in student files in Student Support so that we can all have access to those records. 
 
Don’t rush the process, trust the process…and FOLLOW IT!  This will work….
 
Each time a student misbehaves in class, the teacher should:
  1. Correct the student by saying “Stop doing ____ and start doing _____”
  2. Have a conference with the student outside the classroom (Format below)
  3. Move the student to the “Start Desk”
  4. Complete the discipline referral, and buzz the office for the student to be removed. 

Discipline Assistance

NON-NEGOTIABLES

  1.  Drugs/Alcohol
  2.  Weapons
  3.  Threats against teacher/physical assault resulting in serious bodily injury/verbal assault (not another student)
  4. Bully & Intimidation
  5.  Sexual Assault
  6.  Gang-related fights
  7.  Refusing punishment (parent makes student comply OR 3 day suspension)
  8.  Inappropriate use of electronic media
